Hello

I appear to be having a licence key problem.

I am running version 4.8.43.p on WordPress version

Within WordPress I am receiving the following message:

An automatic update for Event Espresso is available but your Support License Key is invalid. Either you have entered the wrong key on the Event Espresso General Settings page (EE3+ users) or Your Organization Settings page (EE4+ users) OR you no longer have access to the updates for this plugin. Please log in to your Event Espresso account to manage your Support License Keys or purchase a support license right now.

I have entered my support key but the key is in red

I’ve checked the account section of EE and the support key says Not currently activated on any websites.

Can you help please as I’m stuck and don’t know what to do. I’m also not a professional developer just someone who has built my own event site.

Thanks in advance

Ian

Hi Ian,

Are you using the key ending _FREE?

If so that key is inteded for use with EE4 Decaf and will not allow you to update the regular version of the add-on, you need to use the key from your account without the _FREE suffix.

Also, if you remove the key completely and save the settings with a blank field, copy the key from your account page and double check there is no blank spaces before/after the key before saving, does it work then?

Hi Tony

Thank you so much. I had tried both the _FREE and not free key. However when I removed the key completely saved the blank field and then put in key without the _FREE suffix and saved it now all seems to work. Hurray.

Thank you so much as I’m new to this and everything was working fine until this glitch. Now sorted so thanks.

Ian

You’re most welcome, Ian.

I’m glad everything is working for you now, just to note, its advisable to make a backup of your database before running any updates. Not just Event Espresso updates but any theme, plugins or WP updates, simply because if something goes wrong your a bit stuck without a database backup (worse case scenario really but better safe than sorry 🙂 )

There’s plenty of plugins available to make this really easy but here is one I have used:
