I’ve selected Dutch as the only language (Registration Form -> Reg Form Settings -> option Language), but everything is in English since the upgrade to EE5 (5.0.3).

Is there some things I’ve to activate / set / …?

I have the same issue. Still no solution.

Hi there,

I’ve selected Dutch as the only language (Registration Form -> Reg Form Settings -> option Language)

That sounds like the settings for your sites reCaptcha.

Event Espresso uses the site language set in Dashboard -> Settings -> General -> Site Language

If that has already been set correct and Event Espresso is still loading in English try this:

Download the event-espresso-4-nl_NL.mo file from here:

https://translate.eventespresso.com/projects/event-espresso-4/nl/event-espresso-nl_nl/export-translations/?format=mo

Place that file within /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ using FTP and retest.

Does that fix the translations on your site?

Okay, thanks Tony.

The site language has always been Dutch.

The folder language wasn’t available at /wp-content/uploads/espresso (and therefor also no .mo file. I’ve created the folder and uploaded the .mo file.

Now it’s in Dutch again. Thanks!

(I think it was missing in the upgrade files).

Thanks again.

Gerbert

The /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ path is used for custom language files, it will not be created unless you’ve used it before.

The language files aren’t missing from the update but in EE5 we changed the location to use an internal WordPress folder which is turning out to be problematic. So we are switching back to our older method in an update but the above gets you back up and running quicker 🙂

Ahh thanks.

Should I delete this custom folder when the old location is used again? (and how do I know?)

If you are not using any custom translation and just the ones we provide then yes, you can delete those once we’ve fixed the loading issue.

The Changelog will include details on if a fix for this is in a specific version (it will likely be included in the next update).

Or, to test if the default language files load again, on the next update if you rename /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ to something else (add -temp on the end for example) and see if EE continues to show translated strings then its working again and you can remove the files.

Doing it that way means you can always quickly rename the directory back to load them again if needed.
