I am not sure why but my email notifications when someone registers seem to pile up before they are sent. For example, someone registered last week and I did not get the registration until days later when someone else registered and then they both showed up. Why does this happen?

Hi there,

Does your site get very little traffic?

The messages system uses WP Cron to schedule generation and sending of messages at set intervals (around 5 mins apart) but it does rely on someone hitting a page on your site so if you don’t much traffic that may take longer than expected.

It could also be a delay from whichever mail server you are using. EE generates the email and ‘sends’ it over to your host which uses whichever mail server it is set up to use, if that server has a high number of emails queued it can take a while for them to get around to actually sending the email.

There’s an option in EE to send the emails on the same request and not use WP Cron anymore, try setting that first and see if it improves.

Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Settings.

At the bottom you’ll see ‘Generate and send all messages’, set that to ‘On same request’ and test a registration, does it send the emails instantly?
