hello there, I just installed the new EE4 on my site, there is no start up page showing up and nothing on the left hand navigation panel on the dashboard like there used to be….how can I access or troubleshoot? Thanks much |
Right, you can do troubleshooting by doing the instructions here https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/ can you still access the wp-admin? If you can’t, then you will be needing access on your File Manager, then move the plugin to a folder then you can check from there the possible conflict. thanks |
Thanks for your help. I did some trouble shooting – no luck. I am using the reccomended theme, and have no other active plugins on the site. I shut them all off and no luck still. I wonder if I did something wrong since I used to use EE3 I just deleted it since i didn’t want to migrate old data i just wanted to start new. I can see the old “event espresso pages” maybe did not delete seems like there are still place holders there? Screen shot attached from website http://www.vernonfilleyartmuseum.org then on the register for “classes ” tab are the old system error messages….shucks…do I need to go in and find those pages manually and then delete them? and try to reactivate the plug in? how can I send you a screenshot? thank you |
I deleted those pages….I reactivated Event Espresso – no change |
I guess we need to do more troubleshooting. Can you send your login details? |
Thanks so. much for your help – I filled out the login info – I didn’t know how to do the SFTP or FTP Server Host – I use BlueHost for our host. Do i need to send you that logon as well? thanks |
You can contact bluehost how to get FTP/SFTP login. They also have their knowledgebase here. thanks |
Thanks I got that info from bluehost and resubmitted all the login info – thanks so much for all your help – sorry to bother at the holidays I’m just on a deadline to get an event open for registration before January 1st – thanks a million have a great day |

Hi there, I’ve installed version 4.10.46 back on your site to allow migrations to run. Go to Dashboard -> Event Espresso -> Maintenance. If you want to migrate your EE3 data over to EE4 run through the migrations there (there will be multiple migrations to run) Or, if you want to start fresh with EE4, skip the migrations. Once complete you can then update to the latest version of Event Espresso and should have no further issues from there. |
wonderful thank you millions!! I went ahead and skipped the migrations and started fresh. It appears to be working -thx so much!! is there a good video link that will walk me through all the set up? Last time (9 years ago haha ) I remember it was really hard for me to figure out how to map to the payment pages because we use that first data payeezy gateway – thank you |
Maybe I should just map to PayPal as a payment option is that easier? More Fees? I’m nervous to do all the work for First data and then they have indicated that they may be switching over in the next 3 weeks to a new processor called “clover” does Event espresso support that platform as a payment option? thanks |
You mentioned after I set up payment profiles that I should update to the newest event espresso ? Isn’t the one I have now the newest? thank you, sorry for all the questions – thank you |
Can you also please help me what is my support license key? Thanks |
I’m not sure I follow, map payment pages? Can you explain a little more? The documentation we have for FirstData Payeeze is available here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/first-data-payeezy-payment-gateway/
PayPal commerce is basically just log in and go: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-commerce-checkout-payment-gateway/ Fee-wise, I don’t know what FirstData charges to compare, we (EE) don’t charge any different based on payment method.
That I’m not sure above, I’ll check with our dev team to confirm.
I installed a previous version to run the migrations, you can now update to the latest. |
Thanks very much. I updated to the most updated version just now…. But not sure what to do now….Can i send you a screenshot? It says I have a “critical page setting error?” thx |
You can find your support key on your account page. In the “Support License Keys” section. |
Also I tried to work onthe pay pal set up – I got this message “You currently have access to PayPal Express Checkout Smart Payment Buttons (with Venmo). Would you like to switch subscriptions? Go to the pricing page and select a different plan and complete checkout. Need an additional support license for a new project? Get in touch through our contact page and a team member will help you purchase an extra support license key. |
Sorry for all the questions – I think it got it all going but am stuck on. the pay pal . the link you sent me says “pay pal onboarding” I don’t seem to have that button – There isn’t paypal commerce…instead there is an option for Pay pal pro or pay pal express? ….. Do i need to upload another plug in for. this? https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-commerce-checkout-payment-gateway/ |
I do have a pay pal business account jsut can’t find how to get the Api signature easily |
Gosh I’m sorry – I think I figured out the Pay pal commerce page thank you – just wondering now …about the “critical error” pages? thx I promise last question – so sorry |
That’s happening because your Registration Cancelled page is set to ‘Main Page’ It needs to be set to a page with the ‘[ESPRESSO_CANCELLED]’ shortcode set on it.
Where do you see that? |
ok thanks. so change Main Page to what? |
Do I need to create a new page first? and then change the drop down to that? Just call it cancel or something? |
there is not currently a “cancel page” in the drop down |
Theres a ‘registration cancelled’ page in the trash, guessing you previously deleted it when using EE3? It just needs to be a page that holds the Either creat a new one or restore the previous one then set it in that dropdown and save. That should remove the error. |
thx so much I did that succesfully that worked for that page but it still says critical errors maybe these? | Registration Cancelled This page should be hidden from your navigation, but still viewable to the public (not password protected), and should always contain a “cancelled transaction” message and the [ESPRESSO_CANCELLED] shortcode. Event List View If you would still like your events on a page like in Event Espresso 3.1 or earlier, simply create a page and place a shortcode to display them on the page, as described here Venue List View |
