Our client has an issue with abandoned items being left in cart and taking up inventory. Is there some setting we can use to time out or something?

Thanks

Hi there,

EE should place tickets that are selected in ‘reserve’ for the duration of the user’s session (by default it’s 1 hour) and then they should be ‘released’ once again after the session has expired.

If tickets are being reserved and then not released it may indicate an issue with WP_CRON on the site as the above relies on it to work.

Before moving forward we’ll need to confirm the issue, if you look within an event that this has happened on, does it show tickets in the Rsrvd column?

If you go to Dashboard -> Tools -> Site Health.

Wait a least 30 seconds for the tests to complete.

Does it show any warnings above WP_CRON, loopback requests or scheduled events?

This is a continuation of a previous support ticket for tickets not being released from reserved status. https://eventespresso.com/topic/items-left-in-cart/

When we put items in the cart they don’t get released via CRON.

We haven’t set up any CRON jobs on the server, do we need to do that?

We checked out the tool for site health and didn’t find anything either.

Please advise.

Hi there,

I’ve merged your 2 threads together so it’s easier to follow.

You shouldn’t need to set up CRON’s on the server if WP_CRON is working, it is something hosts often do to reduce the load on the server, but setting up crons on the server is not a requirement for EE to work.

Install this plugin on the site:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/

Then go to Tools -> Cron Events

In the list of events, can you find:

AHEE__EE_Cron_Tasks__clean_up_junk_transactions

If so, what does it show for the ‘next run’ column on that event?

Ok plugin now installed, it shows 2020-11-03 14:05:25 on the next run column

OK, so that’s way overdue and means WP_CRON isn’t functioning on your site.

Can I take a quick look in the admin? You’ll likely need to contact your host to have them investigate this further but I can see if any stands out first, if so, send temp login details using this form:
