Hi Michele,

Can you let us know which version you updated from?

I now have 4.6.25
The one I updated from was pretty recent because I updated back in Nov 2014.

Hi, does that content appear again when Event Espresso is not running?

Is a link available?

If I deactivate Event Espresso to test to see if my contect re-appears .. will I lose any event registrations that I have created and added to the website?

Which link are you looking for?

the website is http://www.pyramidresource.com

Hi,

Deactivating Event Espresso via your WP dashboard won’t remove any registrations or event information.

You mentioned that your widgets disappeared after updating Event Espresso so we are trying to determine if that is the cause or if there is something else occurring.

Thanks

I’ve deactivated the Event Espresso and it did not bring back the widgets. What do I do now?

My site was perfectly fine before I updated Event Espresso.

This happened the last time I did an Event Espresso update months ago. I would prefer to not have to go through my website backup and reenter all of the items I added these past few days.

Alright, is it possible that you also updated other plugins or possibly your theme around this time? How about the WordPress core for the recent security releases?

Typically when there is a conflict like this, the content should return right away when Event Espresso is deactivated.

Do they return when only your theme is running?

The WordPress core update was a couple weeks ago. That did not affect these widgets as they were still there up until a few days ago. The only thing the WordPress core update affected was the CAPTCHA.

There was another plugin update that I had accepted prior to the Event Espresso. I have deactivated that. It did not solve the issue.

I am not sure what you mean “when only the theme is running”.

Alright, please try the following steps.

Deactivate all plugins on the site. Then reactivate only plugins (e.g. slider plugin) that may be related to your slider or widgets.

Does the content that was missing before reappear?

No it’s not. What else can I try?

I have done done anything with my theme. Would that come with an update, since WordPress and Event Espresso also had updates recently?

Hi,

Conflicts between plugins or conflicts between themes and plugins due happen from time to time. However, if you disable one source of the conflict then it should fix the issue.

For example, a member recently reported that they were having trouble with registration checkout. When we looked at their registration checkout page, we could see some errors from another plugin that was out of date. They temporarily disabled the plugin and the conflict no longer appeared and registration checkout worked again.

In your original support post, you mentioned that this broke after updating Event Espresso. If it was caused directly by Event Espresso, then it should have returned once Event Espresso was deactivated. One other thing to keep in mind is that Event Espresso does not have any native slider features so I don’t think it could have changed settings for another plugin.

Since you’ve tested with Event Espresso off and the slider hasn’t returned, then I think something else caused the issue that you are seeing.

Are there any options to setup the slider again? Is it possible that a member of your team accidentally turned it off on the homepage?

Anything is possible! How would someone turn a slider off on the homepage? How would I turn it back on?

When I am in the widgets section of the homepage appearance menu on the dashboard, I can see the four widgets (slider, intro, featured, & call to action) that are not showing up on my home page.

But when I am in the customize section of the homepage appearance menu on the dashboard, those four widgets are not visible.

I cannot locate any place where these would have been turned off. Can you help me find what I need to be looking for?

Thanks so much for your help and patience.

Hi, the slider isn’t part of Event Espresso so unfortunately its not something that I’m familiar with. Did someone on your team help you set it up along with the featured widgets?

The person who set up the home page and widgets no longer works here. However, that was set up over a year ago and no one has changed that area.

You mentioned something about turning off a slider. Can you tell me how that can be done, so I can look into it?

Hi,

When you look in your list of plugins, do you see any plugins that have the word slider in the name? If so, you could try searching for that plugin name + documentation in Google and that should show some tutorials on how to use that plugin.

If you do not see anything similar to this in your list of plugins, then the slider is likely part of your theme. You could then search for the name of your theme + documentation to find the documentation for your theme. That should have information on how to setup the slider.
