Issues with system from payment reminder

One of our customers went to pay online directly from the link in the payment reminder and received this message even though the event is not full:

An error has occurred:
It appears that the Disney “Dare to Dream” – Rising 2nd – 5th Grades – Morning Camp event that you were about to make a payment for has sold out since you first registered and/or arrived at this page. Please refresh the page and try again. If you have already made a partial payment towards this event, please contact the event administrator for a refund.

Following this issue, I went in to test and sent an payment reminder to myself and received this message:

An error has occurred:
We’re sorry but there appears to be an error with the “reg_url_link” or the transaction itself. Please refresh the page and try again or contact support.

It’s weird that there are 2 different messages being generated by the same payment link in an invoice sent.

Follow up:

I just tried testing a different event and it worked fine, no error messages and went straight to paypal. So it must be the individual event that’s causing the issue but how can it be fixed? Thanks so much!

More follow up:

The difference between working and not working is that the working event is sold out and the issues are occurring with events (tested another event and received same error message) that are still open.

Have any modifications been made to the Event Espresso plugin? The reason I ask is because the Thank You page scripts are not loading up and they normally do there.

The only change we’ve made to EE is downloading the following from Github:
https://github.com/eventespresso/event-espresso-core/tree/BUG-8698-ticket-sellouts

I’m not sure if this would cause the issue especially when the “sold out” events are working fine. Other than that, we have made no modifications.

Looks like they’re still working on that branch. I’ll let you know when there’s been more work pushed to it. One thing you can try in the meantime though is clear your browser’s cookies. A stuck cookie in the browser could cause the issue you’re seeing.

I cleared cookies and still getting same message. Any other suggestions as I need to send payment reminders with option to pay via PayPal. Thanks

Hi Erin,

You can use the main official release branch to use the send payment reminders with option to pay via PayPal feature.

Forgive me, but I’m not sure what you mean by the “main official release branch.” Do I need to download a different version, or is that something I can access through the current plug-in? Thanks again!

Hi Erin,

The main official release branch is the version that you download from your account page. The version that you downloaded from Github isn’t finished yet. Once it’s finished, it will be merged to the main release branch.
