Hi, I am testing purchasing a course on our site. We live in Canada, so I am trying to select Alberta, and can select it in the dropdown, but as soon as I try to add something else in the form, it automatically switches the province back to another one (in this case Albacete). The payment still went through, but this will be confusing to people. Is there a way to make it automatically show just provinces in the country selected instead of having to scroll through multiple countries? We are using the general settings > countries to limit the countries available to sell to using the address question. I’m also wondering if there is anyone you could recommend that we could hire to do some custom coding for our Canadian taxes issue (we currently have it set to use different tickets to address this). I asked last year and was told everyone was too busy but we’d still like to get it sorted out if possible. I know there’s some plugin code available but we’re using two different payment methods, one with the countries limited/no taxes and one that requires taxes in Canada. |

Hi Kerry, Can you share a link to an example event so we can investigate further? Usually if the Country is selected first, then only the applicable states/provinces will be available for selection. There may be something unexpected happening on your site and we can take a look. We generally recommend Codeable.io for custom code/development. |

Sure, try going to https://www.novalda.com/events/module-1-may-2021-weekend-6024/ and registering for that course. I’m assuming it will happen with other countries too, but maybe not. If you put in a Canada address in the first form, that works great and it only shows the relevant provinces in the dropdown. It’s the second (payment) form where the problem happens. It usually defaults to Stockholms Ian as the province. thanks again for your help. |

Hi Kerry, I guess I’m doing something different here, but I’m not having any issues with the payment form state. So on the Attendee Information step you set Country to Canada, state to Alberta, correct? Then when it loads the payment options, it automatically defaults to use the values set in the Payment Information step, correct? But then change changing values on the payment form the state changes to another value, is it any/all of the fields that cause this? I’ve tried using Canada and Alberta in both fields but didn’t run into any fields switching out, I then use a different country in the attendee info step and switched to using Canada/Alberta in the payment form. Again no switching when altering the fields. I guess I’m doing something different here, can you add some more details? |

Hi there, thanks for checking this. I just tried it again. It automatically went to ‘Stockholms Ian” again as the province, but I was able to type in Alberta, and then it used Alberta and it didn’t change it back again, so I guess we’re good. Maybe something just on my machine that day. If I hear of anyone having that problem I will investigate it again. |

Are you using auto-fill in your browser at all? It could be our saved values and overriding the selection on the form. Just randomly guessing currently as it’s a bit of an odd one so worth a check. |
|
Yes, I do have an auto-fill that I use. |
|
Just a thought on that though – I used the auto-fill on the first (registration) form, not the second one. On the first form, Alberta came up automatically. On the second (payment) form, it doesn’t. |

Hmm, see that is what I find strange. EE will use the details you entered on the attendee information as the default for the payment options form (which works correctly when I test it), so you get empty an empty payment form and need to add all details or just the state is incorrect? Are you logged in or out? |
|
It does bring in the rest of the address – just the state/province is wrong, so I have to scroll through a big list and try to find Canada. Regarding being logged in – I think I would likely have been logged into the wordpress site when I tested it. Just a reminder – we do have a couple of your custom plugins added – one to limit the countries that show and one to make it register after payment is made (through infusionsoft tags). Just in case one of those might have something to do with it. |
