I am having the same issues described in the post.

Please let me know if Event Espresso has found a solution to update the integration for this issue.
We pushed an update for the above shortly after that thread, however we’ve recently noticed that it still doesn’t work for some people.
So, I’ve just pushed another update live, version 2.5.0.p of the MailChimp add-on, that has an updated SDK for MailChimp and should fix any current issues.
Please update to that version and check if it works for you, if you don’t see the update on your site just yet then go to Dashboard -> Event Espresso -> General Settings, make no changes and just hit save to force an update check.
