I just installed Yoast Premium on an active site with EE3. I received the following notification:
Event Espresso API cannot work because it appears URL Rewrite is turned off. Please activate it from Settings -> Permalinks, and there select the ‘post name’ option for URLs.
Everything appears to be working correctly on the site, though. Is this something I need to fix?
When I look into the permalinks section it settings, it is set to custom : /%category%/%postname%/
I don’t know if this was the setting it was or if Yoast updated and changed it. If I do have to change it as mentioned in the error message, will this create a lot of issues with existing events?
Do you continue to see the notification or did it go away? If it’s gone now what likely happened was when the new plugin was activated, it triggered a reset of the rewrite rules, so later in that same request, the API plugin couldn’t find any, so it displayed the notice you saw. The notice should be gone on the next page load of the admin though, because WordPress will rebuild the rewrite rules after they’ve been flushed.
Hi Josh, It comes back randomly every now and then. I think I’ve seen it about three times since installing Yoast. Everything does seem to be working properly for us, though, and the permalinks on new events look to be the same as they used to be.
Nothing is going to break if you see that notification come and go. If it’s a nuisance I can show you where to remove the code in question so it doesn’t show its notification again.
Okay, awesome! Not a nuisance at all, just wanted to make sure the building wasn’t going to catch on fire or anything like that. Thanks for the quick response as always
