Good morning,

Hope you are all doing well. So today I am posting to inquire about an issue one of my clients has recently been encountering with event espresso and we figured the first step would be to reach and see if maybe this is some sort of known issue or if there are any steps that can guide us in diagnosing the issue. We are not sure to what extent this has been happening just yet but either way I’ll do my best to explain and provide necessary information.

So essentially when the person in question (Hien Ha) is registering an event, it’s assigning the wrong contact information to them. The person’s actual email when registering is different from what they’re using to register for the event. This first image shows the wrong contact associated when they tried to register for an event the other day.

This image shows the actual user profile of the person that was trying to register using all the same details incuding their email address. I’ll blur out part of the email since my understanding is that this is public.

And this is the profile of the person that it’s associating Hien Ha’s registrations with.

Other things that are noteworthy are that the site owner allegedly tried to update the contact email to the right one without success and after doing so the person trying to register encounters the same issue.

These are stats outputted by the plugin if it helps.
WordPress Version: 5.8.3

PHP Version: 7.4.27
MySQL Version: 5.7.37
Event Espresso Version: 4.10.13.p
WordPress Address (URL): https://sccds.org
Site address (URL): https://sccds.org

I realize there’s probably not going to be a one size fits all type of solution here because of the nature of the problem but we were just hoping to know if someone has heard of something like this going on. And if there isn’t much to discern from this information, then what steps might be recommendable. I likewise have plans to do checks of my own being the dev of the site

Hi there,

Apologies for the delay but I’ve been looking into this.

So the first few questions I have for this are all based on the history of the site, has this site ever been migrated/moved?

Have the WP tables ever been reset?

For example, has the site been resigned and to do so all of the database tables were copied to a dev site and then the WP Tables reset to remove current contact and someone use a page builder to replace?

Are you comfortable running queries on the database using PHPMyAdmin to check a few details?

Side note – the ‘WP Users’ details actually have very little to do with what is happening in Event Espresso, there is a relationship set up with them and the EE_Contact for the user but the WP User account details themselves, technically aren’t used (that’s a little simplistic but the point is that checking the WP user accounts doesn’t give you the whole story here).
