We just installed the Automated Upcoming Event Notifications Add-On, and per the documentation, it says:
Look at the top of your screen and click on Default Message Templates. Then scroll down the page, and you’ll see two notifications:
– Automated Upcoming Event Notification
– Automated Upcoming Datetime Notification
However, you can see from the screenshot below that those two notifications do not appear in the list.

Just to add to Rio’s comment, if you’ve installed the add-on you may not have activated it.
Go to Dashboard -> Plugins.
Find ‘Event Espresso – Automated Upcoming Event Notification’ and make sure that plugin is activated.
