Hello, |
Hello again Francesco, I edited the registration that I created to test your prior report with the custom questions shortcode. Please take a look at the video below and let us know if you are doing anything differently: Also, you shared that you updated Event Espresso 3. Can you confirm that its add-ons have also been updated? — |

Hi Lorenzo, |
Hi Francesco, Is your support license key activated in the General Settings page of Event Espresso? You can also manually update without using FTP / SFTP: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#update-event-espresso-3 — |

Hi Lorenzo, I have tried to manually update the EE3 but I got an error message – upload failed – the error said the plugin was already existing in the root – directory. Can the problem be fixed w/o upgrading EE3? |
Hi Francesco, I recommend updating since I tested this and did not see an issue on the current version. The error that you saw is because there was an existing version of Event Espresso still installed. You’ll want to remove the existing version before installing the new version. Here are the steps: First backup your WordPress site. Then deactivate Event Espresso and then delete it. If multiple plugins are out of date, then also deactivate and remove those as well. Go to your Event Espresso account page on EventEspresso.com and then browse to the downloads area of your account. Click on each plugin that you would like to download and they will be saved to your computer as a zip file. Make a note of this location. Return to the Plugins screen in your WordPress dashboard and click on Add New. Then on the next page, click on Upload Plugin. Click Choose File and browse to the zip file on your computer. Then start the upload process and wait for the confirmation that the upload has completed. Then if needed, upload additional zip files such as add-ons for Event Espresso 3 and then go back to the Plugins screen and activate Event Espresso 3 along with its add-ons. — |

Lorenzo, I understand BUT i cannot upgrade now. As I mentioned i am not an expert and we did so many customization , that we cannot take any risk with the registration open. If this issue – manually changing the attendee data lost of data – is due to old release we use, I will live with the problem, even if I dont think it depends on the EE release. |
Hi Francesco, When you report an issue on our support forums, the first thing that we’ll try to do is reproduce the issue using a current release of the software. This applies for Event Espresso along with its add-ons. I’ve checked on two different installs of Event Espresso and I did not experience the problem and I shared a video from one of those websites. If you do not wish to update at this time, then I would try temporarily deactivating other plugins to see if that is contributing. Customizations to templates should not prevent you from updating if those were done safely and not to the core plugin folder. We’ll never recommend that you edit the core plugin folder for this reason. Instead, template changes should be made in this location: /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates — |
