Thinking about site content & SEO; classes currently are ‘dropping off’ the site when they are no longer scheduled. Can this content be archived somehow so that it can be indexed by search engines without people being able to book onto it?
I am thinking maybe of an event with no date and no ability to register (attendees full) so that people can only click to be added to a waitlist?
Also on the topic of SEO, is there anyway to make the event URLs more keyword rich instead of ?ee=20 be ?ee=class-name-class-location/
In EE3 events are loaded dynamically but one way to do this would be to use the Custom Post Type feature and then create a post for each event. This will then have the event data stored for SEO purposes.
EE4 doesn’t have that issue as the events are custom post types.
Again as EE3 doesn’t use formal custom post types, the URL structure can’t be made “pretty”. That’s why in EE4 we moved fully over to custom post types.
Hi Dean, thanks for the response. This is certainly something we would want to do. We have purchased EE3 with the addons for Accordion, Recurring Events, Multiple Events, coupon codes etc. In my account profile it says I have access to the download files for EE4 core, EE4 Calendar Add on, EE4 mail chimp integration.
A few questions:
– What would be the process for moving to EE4?
– Do the add ons we bought for EE3 work for EE4 or are they already included in EE4?
– Would I lose the existing event information already put into EE3?
Your events will be migrated from Event Espresso 3 to Event Espresso 4.
