invoice_link occasionally not loading due to invoice logo

Hi,

while setting up my invoice I added a .jpg image as logo in the invoice payment settings. This logo causes the [invoice_link] in the registration-email not to download the PDF invoice occasionally.

Sometimes I have to click the link in my e-mail up to 3 times before it actually downloads the PDF. The times I have to click it before it actually downloads the PDF differs from time to time.

Does anyone know what causes this problem?

I am using:
Wordpress version 4.0
Event Espresso version: 3.1.36.6P

Hi,

The invoice is created on demand by your web server so it may take a few seconds to load.

When you click it and it doesn’t show, are there any errors appearing?

Yes, the one time this error appears:
FPDF error: Missing or incorrect image file: http://www.galakoor.nl/gala-logo_factuur.jpg
The other times it just downloads perfectly.
Could it be a server problem? The server on which this website is running tends to be slow sometimes in my experience.
Would it help if I try to hard-code the image in the invoice template? (if so, what would be the best way of doing it?)

Hi.

1) Make sure that in the Invoice Settings, the image URL does not have any whitespace/spaces before or after it.

2) Go to http://YourSiteName.com/wp-admin/options.php and look for image_default_link_type and make sure the corresponding value is file

(please change YourSiteName.com to your actual domain).

If neither of those resolve the issue, then it might be that your server may not have the following set:

allow_url_fopen = On

In which case it is best to refer to your host.

Hi,
I changed my image_default_link_type setting to file, and made sure there are no spaces before or after the URL. Unfortunately both checks didn’t solve it. I could check with my host/server weather the allow_url_fopen is set to ON or not, but the fact is that the [invoice_link] shortcode works once every 3 to 4 tries…

Can you tell me if hard-coding the image could solve the issue?

You could try but I can’t see how hard coding it would be any different, as it is still passing over the URL of the file.

Ok, I’ll leave this the way it is for now. I’ll wait for feedback from my end-users and see if I need to change something.

Hi,

I checked this with my host and their setting is
allow_url_fopen = On
So that can not be the problem.
Registration is open since last week, we had some registrants and a couple of them e-mailed us about this problem. I don’t want all registrants to have to e-mail me about this problem, obviously 🙂

Any other ideas how to solve the issue?
