I had a user register two people for an event with a discount code for $20/ticket. The invoice appears correctly, however, PayPal charged the full $40.00. Please advise.

Event Espresso Version 3.1.30.7P
Event Espresso – Calendar Version 2.0.4
Event Espresso – Groupons Addon Version 1.5.2
Event Espresso – MailChimp Integration Version 1.0.4
Event Espresso – Members Addon Version 1.9.6
Event Espresso – Multi Event Registration Version 1.0.4
Event Espresso – Permissions Version 1.5.3
Event Espresso – Recurring Events Version 1.1.7
Event Espresso – Social Media Version 1.1.4
Event Espresso – Ticketing Version 2.0.9
Is this a new installation, or one that was recently upgraded? No

Hi Michael,

Have you tested the registration process? What is happening with the discount – as in is it being applied? Are there any error messages?

Thank for the response, Dean:

When I test the field, I can select every single Event Pricing option and the total at the bottom of the Shopping cart tabulates with the $20 discount for each ticket. The Payment Overview is also correct (below). However, PayPal is only showing a $60 discount (below). I am assuming at this point it is because one of the tickets has a price value of $0 (Senior Retired)? Is it causing a problem trying to discount $20 from $0?

OK, it looks like you are right in that the early bird discount (at first I thought this was a promo code discount) does not like discounting to zero.

I will need to run some tests locally to see if this can be recreated

Right so I cannot recreate thi slocally, plus my charges on paypal are after discount not before like yours are.

Have you modified the gateway in any way?

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level.

I have not created any mods to the gateway. Just stock setup. I will send my credentials.

Hi Michael,

Found the answer. There is a $20 surcharge on the Retired pricing option that is being passed to paypal which is why there is a $20 inconsistency.

Surcharges do not have discounts deducted from them.

I will raise a ticket to look into this as it should be adding that into the confirmation screen etc, however it may be some time before the ticket is actioned due to our continued progress with the next step of Event Espresso (verison 4.0).
