Wordpress version: 3.9.1 I am trying to integrate PayPal Pro with the new EE4. I am using the PayPal Pro Payflow edition. EE4 is asking for PayPal API Username, PayPal API Password, and PayPal API Signature. What am I supposed to do here? Normally with PayPal Pro it’s a username, password, partner or vendor. The Signature is a PayPal standard feature. Am I supposed to gather this info from my paypal standard? Am i supposed to use my paypal PRO username and password with the standard API signature? Should I ignore this signature slot? Please advise. |
Hi Kim, PayPal Pro (website payments pro) and PayPal Payflow Pro are different products from PayPal. With PayPal Pro, PayPal is your merchant account provider and payment processor. With PayFlow Pro, you connect your existing payment processor to PayPal’s service: https://www.paypal.com/ca/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_payflow-pro-overview-outside With that mentioned, Event Espresso 4 currently supports PayPal Standard & PayPal Pro. Payflow Pro and the PayPal Advanced services are not currently supported. Could you double-check the account information that was provided by PayPal to confirm? — |

i talked to PayPal and they clarified for me- Payflow Pro IS the new Paypal Pro (stated simply). PayPal Pro is an outdated integration and I would recommend EE4 upgrade their compatibility to the latest paypal integrations. Basically, Paypal Pro is a part of the Payflow gateway so the integration will work using my paypal standard api username, api password, and api signature. However it is not up to speed with the latest paypal integrations and features of their payflow account. Does EE4 have this integration on their todo? |
Hello, We are adding gateways from EE3 to EE4 but there is no estimate available on when Payflow Pro will be available. PayPal typically sends out notices when they will be rebranding or deprecating existing products. Do you know if this is something that they will be announcing in the near future? — |

Hi Lorenzo, I don’t think there will be an announcement as they have been phasing out PayPal Pro for some months now. Might want to call them. I was surprised myself about 2 months ago when I applied for a PayPal pro account and they said payflow was the new pro option. I am having an issue with my integration. I have the paypal pro working great on the site taking credit cards. But I also enabled paypal standard as an option for customers who want to use paypal and I get this warning “ERROR DETECTED. Your shopping cart is empty.” Am I not able to use both payment options? You can try and test for yourself if you like: Kim |
Could you retest with only Event Espresso running under WordPress Plugins? — |

|
Hi Lorenzo- I tested will all plugins deactivated except EE4 and I still got the same error when choosing PayPal as my checkout option. Please advise. |
Hello, Please try reinstalling the software. Also, if you are running any caching services such as WP super cache or cloudflare, then I would deactivate those. — |

Hi Lorenzo- Reinstall did not change a thing. And no, definitely not any caching services. Please advise further. |
It should work on defaults. That is strange. Could you please create a temporary WordPress admin login so I can take a closer look at this issue? Please share that temporary login through the secure link below: To prevent delays in troubleshooting, be sure to double check your information on the form before submitting. The submit button for the form appears after you have answered “Yes” to the last question. Thank you. — |
