Here is the error code. I had the free version and upgraded. Help asap.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare espresso_version() (previously declared in /home/sheryllo/public_html/okstem.com/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/espresso.php:31) in /home/sheryllo/public_html/okstem.com/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-free/espresso.php on line 37

Hi Sheryl,

Can you deactivate Event Espresso lite first before trying to install Event Espresso 4? If you cannot access your admin, you can deactivate plugins by logging into the host C-panel and rename the plugin folder. So wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-free gets renamed to wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-free-off

No. I cant deactivate. anything I click in the wordpress platform returns a fatal error. I will try to figure out how to go into my cpanel, but I’m traveling out of state and not sure I can remember how to access it. Will try. Then what? reinstall?

Hi Sheryl,

After you deactivate it will all be good. If you call your host and explain to them the situation, they will likely be able to go in and deactivate from their end too.

OK Josh, I deleted the new file. Now, how do I upgrade from the free version to the one I just purchased?

Hello,

You can activate Event Espresso 4 through WPadmin –> Plugins

If it is missing, you can download a new copy from your Event Espresso account and then upload and activate through WordPress Plugins.

Hi Sheryl,

De-activate and delete the lite version, then upload & activate the Premium version.

Non of your events/EE settings will be lost as they are stored within the database.

We always recommend performing at least a database backup (full backup if possible) before any updates to any plugins. We have a guide posted here how to do so:
