I would like to run a promotion where anybody who follows us on SM (FB, let’s say) or who subscribe to the site gets a 1-time promotion code for $20 to apply to any event. It is critical that the code is personalized so it cannot be used again by the same person or passed on to another person. Is this possible with EE4 the Promotions plugin?

What you can do is offer a 1-time promotion code for $20 to apply to a specific event. If it’s set to apply to any event the code could be used 1 time for each event on your site.

Hmm so I would need to know which event they want to apply it towards? That seems to be adding another step in the process. Is this the only solution? It should be better if they can utilize it once for any event of their choosing when they want to use it.

I’m afraid that’s currently how the Event Espresso 4 promotions add-on works. It has a feature that lets you apply a promotion code to any event (Apply Promo to ALL Scope Items), and it has a feature that lets you set a “Number of Uses per scope item”. So if you create a new promo code, set it to apply promotion to all scope items, then set the number of uses per scope item to 1, then the promotion code can be used 1 time each for any events available for registration.
