Incomplete Registrations (4)

We opened event registration a few days ago and have since received 109 registrations and 329 incompletes. How can I tell what’s causing the incompletes.

Hi Glenn,

Event Espresso generates registrations as early as it possibly can and that is when the user submits the tickets on the ticket selector, that’s what you can see as ‘Incomplete’ registrations.

As the user works through the reg steps those are updated with the details entered and so change their status to suit (as they enter attendee details and go to the next step the registration will update, as they completely payment, again it updates etc).

So ‘Incomplete’ registrations don’t indicate a problem, they are registrations that were started but didn’t process past the attendee info step.

You can confirm this yourself by opening the Incomplete registrations list and noting the latest ID. Add a ticket (or 2) on another tab in the ticket selector and refresh the list, you’ll see your new registrations in the list, add some details on the attrendee info step and stop at payment options. The registrations will have moved form incomplete at that point.

In short, incomplete registrations don’t necessarily indicate a problem unless you are getting reports that users can not register.

Your site could be getting hit by bots simply submitting the ticket selector form (if a bot finds a form, it submits it), have you enabled reCaptcha on the site?

Event Espresso -> Registration form -> Reg Form Settings -> reCAPTCHA Anti-spam Settings

You’ll need to register for a reCaptcha key and set it up on the above page, then enabled the ticket box next to the Ticket Selector option which may help.

(Test a registration whilst logged out to confirm you have no issues with recaptcha as it wont load when logged in)
