We are receiving a significant amount of incomplete registrations. What is the best way to diagnose this issue to see if it is a user problem (registering then leaving) or if there is a server error? Thank you.

You should be able to check the server’s error logs for errors. If you don’t have an error log, you can set WordPress to log the errors by following this guide:

https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress#Example_wp-config.php_for_Debugging

Then, you can get more specific information about which registration steps were completed, initiated, and not initiated by clicking on the incomplete Registration from the Event Espresso > Registrations table. Then you click on view additional transaction session details. The details will include information about the progress that was made during the registration process.

For example if the user completed the registration form but did not complete the payment form, the Attendee Information step will indicate Completed, the Payment Options step will indicate Initiated, and the Finalize Registration step will indicate Never Initiated.

Hi again,

I took a look through the Incomplete registrations on your site, using the credentials you sent and all of them didn’t complete the Attendee Information step. Those may even from be automated submissions (by bots) on the Ticket Selector form. In which case you can install the Blackhole for bad bots plugin to help reduce those types of form submissions.

Thank you. I’ve implemented the plugin and debugging solution.

Can you check the debug file? Also not sure if the Blackhole plugin is working or now. We’ve had more incomplete registrations. Thanks

I checked the debug.log file and it’s logged one PHP warning that appears to be related to your theme’s functions.php file. So it appears that there are no server errors happening during the registration process.
