The sale of our tickets has an implied +1, that they are bringing a date to the event. We need to capture the +1 guest information on the sale of a single ticket for any ADA requirements, Emergency notification, headcount, etc. There doesn’t seem to be a way to capture that information unless you force two tickets to be purchased, but then they’re paying too much. Is there a method or workaround for this use case? |
Hi Perry, You can add additional custom questions to the Primary Registrant’s question groups so that the first ticket askes for those additional details. However note with that setup the additional attendee’s details will NOT show up as an additional registrant, just questions/answers within the ‘original’ registrant. So you’d create your custom questions within: Event Espresso -> Registration Form -> Questions. Then create an additional question group, say ‘Guest Information’ and add the custom questions to that group: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/add-questions-event-espresso-question-groups/ Then select that question group within the ‘Primary Registrants’ question groups on the event, it’s the top group of question groups in the event editor – http://take.ms/1CBvc Then when a user selects a single ticket they will also be asked the guest information questions you added to the new group. Will that work? |

It does as workaround, but from an event reporting aspect it makes life a lot more difficult. We have to produce reports for some of the venues to ensure that we are with fire marshal safety, natural disaster headcounts, emergency contact info, etc. So I’d like to see a feature where we can “Include +1 guest registration with Ticket Purchase” so that the information becomes part of the registration reports. |

Currently, we don’t have plans to include a registration without selecting an additional ticket, I can add the above as a feature request for discussion but as we are working on other areas of the plugin currently its unlikely to change ‘soon’. Another option is to create a ticket bundle within EE: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-ticket-bundle/ So you’d set the min and max qty to 2 for the ticket the user needs to regsiter on and set the price per ticket (so in your case half of the full value). Then when the user registers they can either select 0 or 2 of the ticket, which will setup the registrations and the total cost correctly for you. Would that work? It basically means the user always selects 2 tickets, but as the price is set per ticket and you have it as 50% of the value you need you charge the correct price and collect both users details. |

Tony, I think that works better, not ideal, but better than creating the questions that actually don’t tie to the attendance information. We just need to make sure we make it clear to our customers the difference between the ticketing options being present. I am sure it will cause confusion but better than nothing. The preferred option would still be a single ticket with a +1 option. Thanks. Perry |

So I just put this into effect, and there’s two points of confusion. First is that I can select both ticket options to register: Individual Attendee -and- Individual Attendee plus Guest If this is the solution, really need an either or option so that they don’t buy 3 tickets (Individual and Plus guest option) The second part is that the “Individual and Guest Option” displays a price of $150 but has a quantity of 2 in the column, based on your recommendation above. This makes it looks like I am buying 2 $150 tickets. This becomes more clear on the second page when you are checking out, but on the initial glance, it looks it would be $300, not $150. Ugly…but it works. |
We don’t have an option for either or tickets within the ticket selector so to do that would require custom development.
That’s the only other option available to keep the attendee records correct when registering. Again with custom development, this could be changed by a developer but it’s not something we have available within EE itself. |
