Hi,

I would like to use the “add to wy calendar” option in the confirmation e-mails, but I have a problem of what appears in the ical description. Aka, on top of the event description that is fine (and also title, start / end date is good), it also automatically includes the link to the event page on EE.

The issue is that we never use the direct event pages of EE but always embed the ticket selector inside of other pages, with the result that the event page per se looks terrible and we would not want to show it to anyone 🙂
Example: https://innovationroundtable.com/register/events/innovationroundtable-online-free-live-session-july-21-2020/

So, in short, is there any way that I can edit what goes in the ical – even as simply as just removing the link to the EE event page in the description field and just leave the event description there?

#SUGGESTION#
Moreover, I think it would be great if there was a way to include the option to download the ical in the confirmation page (not only on the event details). After all it’s who has registered for it that needs to save the date in their calendar, even more nowadays for virtual events …and, I think that a user is more likely to see it there and click on it rather than actually reading a registration confirmation e-mail (how many do really read that vs. seeing it on screen on the same window and the split second after you have completed the registration?)

Hi there,

So, in short, is there any way that I can edit what goes in the ical – even as simply as just removing the link to the EE event page in the description field and just leave the event description there?

The iCal data is filtered so yes, this is possible.

Something like this will remove the URL:

https://gist.github.com/Pebblo/9ecad0fbc9dd707f06157bd6509cbff0

Add that to a custom functions plugin on the site, we have some documentation on creating one here:

Moreover, I think it would be great if there was a way to include the option to download the ical in the confirmation page (not only on the event details).

There’s a whole bunch of hooks within EE so this could be done using a hook on the confirmation page.

I understand your point here but statistically speaking probably about the same number who open up the payment options page, click invoice and miss the ‘Finalize Registration’ button.

Generally, if the user registering is not someone who will read the email correctly you’ll likely find they also miss a button on the confirmation page.
