Hi,

A customer of us have a live website with the free version of Event Espresso Lite installed. We are in the process of building a new site on a server with a temporary link, the customer has purchased the EE4 version, i have made a clone of their current website, installed it on a testserver and tried to upgrade to EE4. The upgradeprocess did not work ok, see my topic: https://eventespresso.com/topic/blank-screen-after-start-migration-from-event-espresso-lite-to-ee4/ Tried the tips but without succes. At the moment it’s to risky to upgrade the live site due to to problems i encountered. So for now we do the testing on the testserver with the EE4 version but i cannot use the add-ons, is this because i have not entered the license code? How can i use the full potential of the plugin? If i enter the license code will it still work when the temporylink will change to the real sitename? please advise….

Hi there,

The upgradeprocess did not work ok, see my topic: https://eventespresso.com/topic/blank-screen-after-start-migration-from-event-espresso-lite-to-ee4/ Tried the tips but without succes.

You say without success, yet you appear to be using EE as you mention you can use it but without add-ons?

You didn’t reply to the other thread but we could have done some further troubleshooting to find the problem.

If you enable WP_Debug on the site instead of a white screen, you’ll see the actual error message that is being thrown.

So for now we do the testing on the testserver with the EE4 version but i cannot use the add-ons, is this because i have not entered the license code?

It is not because of the license key, the key has no effect on EE’s functionality at all, it is used to allow one-click updates and support.

Why can you not use the add-ons?

If you are getting a white screen again then it’s likely related to the problem in your original post, but again we’d need to troubleshoot further.

How can i use the full potential of the plugin?

You manually install EE and leave the license key field blank o the test site, then you can manually install any add-ons you want to install on that site. You download both EE and the add-ons from your account page and upload them through Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin.

If i enter the license code will it still work when the temporylink will change to the real sitename? please advise….

No, your license key would need to be reset on our end when the domain changed, but again, you don’t need to enter the key on the test site.
