Hi there,

You lost all your data, or the data did not migrate over to EE4?

EE4 will migrate your EE3 data over if it’s using the latest database schema for EE3, v3.1.30.7P does not use the latest schema so the first thing you’ll need to do is upgrade the version of EE3 installed on the site.

Before going forward, create a database backup of the site. I plugin I use backupwordpress but there are many backup plugins you can choose from.

If you’re unsure, I recommend contacting your host and requesting they make one for you as it is important to have one in case anything goes wrong (it’s rare but can happen and that backup will save you a lot of headaches if that’s the case).

Once you have a backup, download the latest version of EE3 HERE.

De-activate (and delete if preferred) the current version of EE3 installed and manually install the above version (Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin).

Activate that version and wait until the dashboard loads.

Now you can de-activate EE3 again and re-activate EE4.

Now, because you’ve already activated EE4 it likely will not show you the option to migrate, you’ll need to reset EE4 now that you have the latest EE3 changes for it to trigger am migration.

To do that go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance -> Resetl/Delete Data.

Click the ‘Reset Event Espresso Tables’ button and the migration should then kick in.

A couple of notes:

1. In case the above isn’t clear, the above button will delete the current EE4 data on the site.

2. We recommend doing this a development copy of the site first as EE4 is very different to EE3, it’s not just an update but a new system. None of the EE3 add-ons will work with EE4 and any customizations you’ve done on EE3 will not apply to EE4.
