I purchased and installed EE4, de-activated EE3 and then activated EE4, and my event and registration data is not there. Is there some sort of migration tool? |
Hi Joshua, There is, and typically Event Espresso 4 will load up a migration tool automatically after you activate Event Espresso 4. If it does not, please be sure that it was running the latest version of Event Espresso 3 (3.1.36) before attempting the update. |

I don’t seem to have an upgrade option on my version 3. I purchased a license a couple years ago, and the key is TyfRwyBtkL Can you tell me how to update to 3.1.36? |
Hi Joshua, Event Espresso 3 manual update instructions can be found here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/ You will need to deactivate Event Espresso 4 before you can update your Event Espresso 3 installation. |

I don’t have any EE3 download links on my profile page. I’m not sure I got a profile page when I originally bought the plugin. I think it was purchased under a different account – josh@thecreativealliance.com When I try the “Forgot Password” thing with that email, it says no account exists… |
Hi Joshua, I see what’s going on. You don’t have any downloads for EE3 because your license for EE3 expired. In order to get updates to EE3, you will need to have an active EE3 license. |

I just paid $50 for an EE4 license. It looks like you guys are giving that for free to EE3 license holders. Is there anything you can do for me to reduce the cost since I did this a little backwards? |
Hi Joshua, Please get in touch with sales for some options: sales [at] eventespresso.com — |

OK, I updated to version 3.1.36.5.P, then uploaded version 4, de-activated the version 3 plugin and activated the version 4 plugin. No migration assistant started up, and my event data is not present in version 4. Any other suggestions? I really need to get my data into version 4… |
When you activate EE4, you should be in full maintenance mode and be directed to Event Espresso -> About. Looking similar to this http://take.ms/f6qlw Is this not the case for yourself? |

No, here’s what I see: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xm0q4p6zedd0zg0/Screenshot%202014-04-15%2012.22.13.png |
Hmm, strange. At some point did you see a screen similar to this? http://take.ms/BX91H Clicking ‘Just start EE4 with No Data’ (http://take.ms/18hRV) would ignore EE3’s data. To fix you can either restore to a database backup from before EE4 was first activated and then re-activate EE4, choosing to migrate your EE3 data. (Preferred option) Or make a backup of the site as is (just to be safe), we have a guide on how to do so posted here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/ Then go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance. ‘Reset/Delete Data’ tab. Then click ‘Permanently Delete All Event Espresso Tables, Records, and Options’ which will remove all EE4 data (leaving EE3) from your site and de-activate EE4. Then once you re-activate EE4 it will ask if you want to migrate EE3’s data again. |

OK, great. Thanks for the detailed instructions. I got the data migrated over. |
