I recently upgraded from EE3 to EE4 and now we no longer have an events list. I confirmed that we have the short code [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] but all it does is output the shortcode text. Any suggestions?

Hi there,

I checked your site and it looks like there’s a conflict with the /events/ custom post type slug due to there being a folder on your root directory of the same name.

Here’s how to fix this: You go into Event Espresso > Events > Templates tab, then change the Event Slug setting to something like “our-events”, “upcoming-events”, basically, anything other than events or an existing page slug will do.

Then, you save that settings page, and visit the Event Listings URL that’s linked on Templates settings page to see your new event listings.

I renamed our root folder as it was no longer needed. I kept the slug as is but still does not work. Is it because we actually have a page called “events” which has the shortcode on it? I tried to change the slug but that did not work either. I just get a blank page. There should be a demo event I created. If I navigate to our-events/<demo event>, that works. I am trying to return what I had in EE3 with a page containing the list of events.

I just noticed that there must have been a delay with the updating. It seems to work now. In EE4 do we have manually add a button for registering also?

Hi,

I’m glad you got it working. In answer though, yes, a page with the slug events will cause problems. Slugs must always be unique.

Buttons do not need to be added, their should be a view details button that links ot the event page and from there the user can select ticket numbers and proceed.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am having a heck of a time getting my event set up in EE4. I fixed the slug issue by deleting that directory with the same name. Now that page is just blank. There should be a test/demo event published.

Here is the direct page of the test event. There is no option to add to cart or select ticket: http://azitsmprofessionals.com/our-events/demo-quarterly-meeting/

This is the events page: http://azitsmprofessionals.com/events/

Hi,

In the event editor for the Demo Event, is the “Display Ticket Selector” option set to yes?

Regarding http://azitsmprofessionals.com/events/, go to Settings > Permalinks, and press the save/update button.

If neither of those assist, please advise and we can look at it in more detail.

Well that’s interesting. Display ticket selector was set to yes. All I did was click the save button under permalinks as suggested and now it works. Thanks for your help! The register button is there now also. Kinda weird.

Hi, was there anything else that we could help you with regarding the missing ticket selector?
