Hi I would like to have the .po file of the translation that was delivered in the free plugin I downloaded about 3 weeks ago. Since then I bought the premium. The file I downloaded on glotspress is not much translated into French, the one included in the plugin is better translated. I do not have the .po in the languages folder so I can not change the one I have. |
Hi there, The repo the plugin uses is available here: https://github.com/eventespresso/languages-ee4 However, those languages files should actually have fewer transactions than GlotPress. |
Thank you for your prompt response. |
You’ll need to right-click and ‘save as’ when on the above view. When saving the file make sure you remove the .txt extension. Save the file to your machine and you’ll have the .po file. |
The extension .txt does not appear during the recording … so I have a text file and not .po |
Then simply change the .txt extension to .po Is your system set to show file extensions? https://www.howtohaven.com/system/show-file-extensions-in-windows-explorer.shtml https://www.idownloadblog.com/2014/10/29/how-to-show-or-hide-filename-extensions-in-os-x-yosemite/ |
Ok that was the problem! thank you ! I will go see if the translation is good. |
I checked the downloaded .po, it is not as translated as the .mo which was in the download of the plugin … THanks |
My apologies, but I’m not sure I understand. What is missing? The PO files in that repo are from our GlotPress project, both the PO and MO file were downloaded from the same source so they should match. EE downloads the MO file for a locale from the above repo into your site, so if you had translations automatically downloaded previously it was/is from the above repo. |

I would like to change the text of: “Information importante à propos de votre paiement – Effectuer un paiement en utilisant un transfert de fonds de votre banque” |
Is a header within EE core and can either be translated: Or there is a filter avaiable to change it:
Is the ‘description’ field of the Bank payment method, you edit that directly within EE. Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> Bank -> Description |
Ok thanks, I could change the text: “Effectuer un paiement en utilisant un transfert de fonds de votre banque”. |
You already have the PO file on your site, correct? Just edit the translation within that. Which PO file are you currently using? |
No in folders there is only .mo file! |
Yes, but did you not download the .PO file from the language repo earlier at the beginning of this thread?
So you do have the PO file? The MO file you are using on the site was generated using the PO file in the repo, if the translation is not in the PO file, its no in the MO file. EE isn’t pulling the translation from anywhere else but the MO file I link to unless your loading your own version in
Why will you lose translations? The PO/MO files in the language repo were built from the Glotpress project, they are a little outdated now and will need to be updated to match the GlotPress project that project has all of the latest strings. So the GlotPress project is more up to date than the language repo, it has all of the translations that were applied in the previous version but also has additional strings that have been added to EE since they were generated. The Glotpress translation for French is available here: https://translate.eventespresso.com/projects/event-espresso-4/fr/event-espresso-fr_fr/ If there are missing translations from the repo PO/MO that are not translated in GlotPress can you please provide an example of them and I will investigate why. |
Yes, I downloaded it from glotspress, but the translations are not all done compared to the compiled file I had !!
Because it is less well translated! When I install the new compiled file according to your .po, I have English words again that appear. I think it’s easier to translate the missing expressions. |
Without some examples, I don’t know what I am looking for. Which strings are not translated that previously were? As mentioned, the MO file EE automatically downloads if from our GlotPress project, its an older version but still, it is from the same project. So if strings aren’t showing translations in the ‘latest’ version I can investigate why.
I’m sorry but you keep alternating between the 2 sets of instructions, is this the .PO from the language repo or GlotPress? I need some examples so I know what I’m looking for, otherwise I can’t help.
If that is what you prefer to do, but again, I’m more than willing to help find the cause but I can’t without examples. Browsing through the PO file from the language repo and the PO file from GlotPress I mostly the same strings translated. The GlotPress file has some ‘newer’ strings with and without translations but right now I have no idea where to look. |
