Hello,

I am trying to filter the Upcoming Events Widget. It is showing all the recurring events. I only want it to show the next event coming up… not all of them. What I am looking to do is show events coming in the next week.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

This depends on how exactly you would like to filter the events. Based on the qty?

If you go to your sites Dashboard.

Then go to Appearance -> Widgets.

Within your widget area you will find the Event Espresso Upcoming Events Widget. You can set options for how you would like to filter the events there – http://take.ms/hIPiO

Does that help?

That is what I am using and by default it shows all the recurring events. I only want it to show the net event, not all of them. It makes for a really long list. I could limit it to a specific number but I would rather filter the list by time. Can I filter to only show events in the next 7 days for example?

That’s not something that is built into the code, as it currently exists. It’s not a very difficult thing for a developer to add in to the code in a couple hours of development time. The real problem for us doing it comes in when that new feature needs to go through the quality assurance process and then needs to be maintained indefinitely into the future. So taking on adding new features is something that we have to take seriously and put through a process to determine our best deployment of our development resources.
That all being said, the code is all open source, so you are free, and encouraged, to modify the code to suit your specific needs. Know that we cannot give support to customized code, but we will certainly help as much as we can, with reason. For example, early in EE4, I took a stab at customizing the upcoming events widget: https://github.com/sidharrell/EE4custom/tree/customWidget. I haven’t updated it in quite a while, but the file structure there should give you a good idea of how to take the existing widget code and make a new one that is customized to your needs.
