Hi,
I am trying to copy (duplicate) my existing website in a subdirectory for further development so that I don’t disturb the live website.
I have copied all the wordpress folders (including plugins), duplicated the database and renamed the database info and the site url.
But when I tried, I had an error linked to the missing file \wp-content\plugins\event-espresso\includes\functions\main.php. I can see that it disappears instantly when I copy it on the hosting server.
Can you guide me on how to create a duplicate of the existing site?
WordPress version WP 3.8.1
Event Espresso version 3.1.36.2.P
Event Espresso – Calendar by Event Espresso version 2.2.1.p,
Event Espresso – Social Coupons by Seth Shoultes version 1.5.4.p,
Event Espresso – Members Addon by Event Espresso version 1.9.8.p,
Event Espresso – Multi Event Registration by Seth Shoultes version 1.0.5.p,
Event Espresso – Permissions by Event Espresso version 1.5.5.p,
Event Espresso – Recurring Events by Event Espresso version 1.1.8.p,
Event Espresso – Social Media by Event Espresso version 1.1.7.p,
Event Espresso – Ticketing by Event Espresso version 2.1.p,
Event Espresso Volume Discounts by Seth Shoultes version 0.5.1,
Event Espresso – Voucher Import by Event Espresso version 0.1,
Event Espresso by Event Espresso version 3.1.36.2.P
While this is a little outside of Event Espresso support, and while without more information it is hard to say for sure, my best guess right now is that when you copied over the database you didn’t change the URL structure.
So instead of the urls being mysubdomain.mysite.com, they are still pointing to mysite.com.
Hi,
I am writing a post here because my problem seems to be linked to this missing file “main.php” from event espresso package.
I thought that telling you that the file “main.php” disappears when I upload it with FileZilla, you would figure out what was going on.
After more research on the web, I found that I had to enable “Force showing hidden files” in FileZilla, and then the file “stayed” after uploading and I can now access my dev site…
I still don’t understand what happened in the first place. I don’t think the file “main.php” was simply hidden, why would I get a “fatal error” about a missing file otherwise?
I had read about the migrate plugin, but I like to do things manually to better understand what is going on behind the scene.
Thanks for your support, I have already found a lot of answers to my questions in this forum in the past!
Hello, from time to time FTP clients drop the connection and this could result in an incomplete or a missing file.
Cyberduck is another SFTP/FTP client that is available for multiple platforms.
