Using EE4. How can I change the order of event categories? For example, I renamed the default category “uncategorized” into “other”. I want this to be at the bottom of my categories list, so that viewers can see all other categories (most used at the top), and the “other” category at the very bottom. thank you! |
Hello, I’m not sure I understand where you are making this change. Are you trying to set this up using the categories shortcode? — |
|
|
no, I have no idea how to use shortcodes for the categories. Is this described anywhere in the included documentation? At this point I am not trying to make the change anywhere. I was asking if it’s actually possible and how to achieve it? You can look at my site here, you will see the categories listed above the calendar. I want the category “other” to be at the bottom of the list. Do you know how I can do this? http://www.paintingparty.ca/calendar/ thanks, |
Hi, The categories in the category legend for the category appear in the order that they are created in. You can push the Other category to the end by creating another category called Other2 and then associating any events with Other2. Then delete the original “Other” category and adjust the name for Other2 to Other. — |

okay, i got it. but the problem is that default ‘uncategorized’ category. i can’t delete it. |
Are you seeing this category in the Manage Event Categories screen? — |
|
|
I see this under the “categories” tab in the events managing screen. I tried to delete the ‘uncategorized’ category and it doesn’t go anywhere. now I tried to rename it, and it doesn’t even want to do that. I don’t want to have a category named “uncategorized”. please tell me how to get rid of it. thank you! |
Hello, I read your original post and I see that you are on Event Espresso 4. My earlier comments were for version 3. I’m going to take a look at this on the new software and I’ll update this support post shortly. — |

Hello, The uncategorized category can’t be removed through the WordPress admin but I can help you remove it from that page. Just add the following CSS to a plugin like My Custom CSS: #ee-category-li-36{display:none} — |

that worked, thank you! |
