How do we create an event that has a set cost but we want to allow people to register and signup but not be required to pay upfront. After we get a bunch of signups we would them want to email each person a few weeks later and then ask them to pay in full at that time. This way we can judge how many people signup first before we ask them to pay. The price would be set before they signup but we just want to delay the payments. |

Hi Jeff, You can use the flexible payment method add-on for this. Create our event as normal with a paid ticket, the user selects the ticket and then selects a ‘Pay Later’ payment method (which is just the flexbile payment method set up as a ‘pay later’ option) to finalize. That then completes the registrations and you can email them later to pay in full. Is that what you are looking for? |

whatever is the easiest way to do this but not sure if what you suggest is easy – do I have to buy this additional plugin add-on and install it? I do remember that when we had our other events we did require payment up front but many would register without paying and then we be able to email them from EE and they would get a link to pay – maybe that would still be the easiest way to do it? |
|
May I ask what you would suggest as easier?
Yes, you would need to purchase that add-on as the EE4 Personal Licnese does not have it included. Another option is to repurpose an offline payment method such as Bank/Check/Invoice and have the user select that.
EE saves the registration details earlier on so once they have entered their contact details and click the ‘Proceed to payment options’ button you’ll have the ability to email them. However, abandoning the registration at that point leaves the users session open which can cause problems so they are best selecting a payment method (even if thats a ‘pay later’ option) rather than simply leaving the page. |

We need them to pay later using EE as thats our ONLY payment option by credit card so we need to keep the registration and payment within EE. when you say: As I said before we had people register and not pay before and then could always email them from EE and then they could pay at anytime. exactly why is this a problem to do it this way if we tell them to just register and click payment method and then they can close the page? |

I understand, but your users should finalize their registrations and to do that they need to select a payment method and click finalize. So if you want a ‘Pay later’ option you need a payment method they can select to finalize the registration. That can be the flexible payment method I mentioned, or an ‘offline’ payment method (meaning a payment method that doesn’t take payment) from within EE core like Bank, Check or Invoice.
Yes, as I said, once they are past the attendee information step (so entered their details and went through to payment options) you can send them emails. However, if they didn’t finalize their registrations then 3 things happen. 1. They’ll sit with a registration status of ‘Pending Payment’ and a Transaction status of Abandonded. That may not be an issue for you but if you use a Default Registration Status of ‘Approved’ so that all registrations count towards your sold values (so you don’t oversell) they won’t switch to Approved automatically to save their space. (May or may not be an issue for you, depends on setup). 2. The ‘reserved’ ticket count (the count we use to keep an active total of sold + ‘current’ registrations) will be wrong for roughly 1 hour after each registration. (Depends on your events if/how much of an issue that will be) 3. No emails are triggered on their initial registration. Without you triggering an email for them at a later date your user will have no record of their initial registration. In short, EE expects registrations to be finalized, if you chose not to then ok but it’s important to note that EE does expect them to be. |

Hello, we have setup an event here https://mikelemoncasting.com/events/preparing-for-a-vo-career-zoom-class/ We are NOT requiring people to pay at first so we want to manually send them emails later so how do we turn OFF and automated payment reminders that go out like the one below? Your registration is awaiting payment for the following class. Please note that we cannot reserve your spot until the payment is completed. Registrant(s): |
|
Also, how do I change the text on this page https://mikelemoncasting.com/registration-checkout/?uts=1598209675#checkout which is contained in ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT |
|
The email content posted looks custom so I can’t be sure what email that is, I’m guessing its the ‘Registration Pending Payment’ email and you can confirm but going to: Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default message templates -> Registration Pending Payment -> Edit Registrant. Does the content of that template look like the correct email?
Just for future reference, the output of that page depends on your current session so we can’t see what you see from the link as my session won’t match yours. You posted the string you need to translate so I can work from that here. You’ll need to ‘translate’ the above string and the original string is:
You can change that string by either using the PO/MO files (better when translating a few strings), or if only changing a handful you can use a custom function like this: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/#custom-function |
