You can cancel the existing registration and then create a new one through Event Espresso –> Events. Then hover over the name of the event and click on Registrations.
On the next page, click on Add New Registration and then complete the registration. You may want to remove the option to send registration details (yellow box).
Then go to the transactions screen and add a payment for the full amount with a description of:
Event Admin – adjustment – switching ticket
Then you can send the new registration to the attendee/registration and apply the payment.
Once the event has passed, the system does not allow us to add a new registration, as your instructions indicate. We receive the message (on the backend): “We’re sorry, but all ticket sales have ended because the event has expired”. Even if we change the dates of the ticket past today, it doesn’t work and seems to hinge on the actual event date.
Do you need to reassign the registration to a new event or do you need to reassign to the same event?
If its the same event, then move the end datetime for the event and the end time for the ticket to today or tomorrow and save changes. Then in another window, re-register the attendee. Then you can go back and update the event.
It locks out to prevent new registrations which could cause overselling. However, the steps above should work.
