On a second event, I set the ‘Force Login for Registration’ option to TRUE which seems to provide a difference user experience. If you look at the URL below
Both tickets are selectable, and I’m assuming that once logged in, the filter of member tickets applys. I’m just trying to understand the difference in behiour of this event setting. Is it possible for us to reconfigure our ‘k-club’ event via the Database to match the ‘BMS’ event.
Force login will require any user that registers onto the event to have a WP User account on the site, so do both members and non members have accounts on the site?
Both tickets are selectable,…
Both tickets are selectable by anyone yes, the setting simply tells EE to require the user to be logged into the site to register onto the event.

I’m not sure what this means, what filtering?

That setting simply means you need to be logged into the site to register, non logged in users can not complete registration.

Why do you need to update the event via the DB? In any case, its not really clear that the above setup is what you need, so lets figure out the correct setup before looking into applying changes to other events.
