Hi,

I currently have a series of recurring classes for a music school set up which ended in December. I want to schedule the new term which ends in June 2015. All the classes and times are the same.

I’m guessing I need to change the Registration End Date of each class, however I’m not sure if I need to check:

* Only in this instance
* All events in the series
* This and all upcoming events

I would be very grateful if you could advise.

Many thanks,
Rachel

Hi, I’m ever so sorry to post again without waiting for a response but I think this is a simple/quick answer and I’m under the hammer to deliver to the client this eve… I’d be very grateful if you could take a look.

I think it’s to choose between * all events in the series and * this and all upcoming events – I can’t tell the difference…

Many thanks,
Rachel

Hi Rachel,

Can I first make a recommendation and advise not to extend the current recurring series, but create a new one with the same details?

The reason for this is if you need to make changes to all of the events within a series, it becomes easier to manage if your recurring series is specific for the new events. Event Espresso can handle extending the event series, I just found it easier from a users/event managers perspective to create a new series for each year.

Having said that, how are these events recurring? Weekly, monthly, daily etc?

And to confirm you want exactly the same recurrence pattern as the current event, just extending that until June 2015?

A quick summary of the 3 options mentioned:

* Only in this instance
Applies the changes you have made to ONLY the event you are currently editing.

* All events in the series
Applies the changes to ALL events that were created within this series, from the beginning to the end.

* This and all upcoming events
Applies the changes to the current event and any future events already created (are create due to the changes made to the dates within REM)

Hi Tony,

Many thanks. I had to go ahead and make a guess which seems to be working. I changed the end registration date for each event to June 2015 and checked ‘all events in this series’. It appears to be working fine so far. Bookings have already been made this eve – but I’ll keep an eye on it and take your advice for next season and create a new series.

Hi Clare,

So you are using the same events from last year this year?

Do you not need to separate the registrations from last/this season?

I’m just confirming now as it will be easier to fix now with a few registrations than later with many.
