How do I customize Upcoming Events widget display to add a message?

Hello I need to add a short message to the Upcoming Events widget display.

I’ve tried using CSS before and after content but that isn’t a clean solution.

I’ve tried adding a text widget before and after the widget and that is not useful.

Hi Chris,

We have a clone of the Upcoming events widget in its own plugin here:

https://gist.github.com/joshfeck/27a285c4285a6c986053

If you use the above as a plugin you will have a custom ee upcoming events widget you can use to edit the code and display your message within the widget itself.
