Looking everywhere for this. As an admin I also want to have the ability to cancel a reservation made by a user. How can I do this?

Hi Joshua,

If you view the attendees for your event – http://take.ms/t48SS

Click on the attendee to edit, then on the top right you’ll see ‘View/Edit Payment’ – http://take.ms/xwr14

You can then select a status of Cancelled – http://take.ms/mMSUF

Update the payment info.

That attendee now has a status of Cancelled – http://take.ms/GqbSa

Is that what you are looking for?

Hi Tony,

Got that, thanks! Only two questions left..

1) After cancelling a registration the status is still pending. How can I change this? http://cl.ly/image/0p2Q1L2v2J2m

2) When an admin cancels a registration we want to inform the attendee. Can we set up a custom email?

Hi Joshua,

Sorry for the late reply.

1) Are they marked as Incomplete in the View/Edit Payment screen as well?

2) You can yes, via the Email Manager. You would need to send them an “invoice/Payment Reminder” from the View/Edit Payment and select your custom message.

Hi Dean,

1) The attendee is only marked as cancelled. https://eventespresso.com/topic/how-can-an-admin-user-cancel-a-reservation-in-ee3/#post-140732
After setting the registration to Cancelled I don’t have to also set it again as Incomplete do I??

2) If I understand you correctly I can only send the attendee an email via a custom message? I don’t want to enter the same text every time I would like to sent a default email when a attendee is disapproved. http://cl.ly/image/1p1c2Z0M392T

I’ve already set up an custom email but this doesn’t get sent… I don’t know why. Could you walk me through the process again, please?

Hi Joshua,

Re: #1, this is a dead link: http://cl.ly/image/0p2Q1L2v2J2m

Re: #2, that’s also a dead link, but you can select a custom email from the invoice/payment reminder screen where it says Use a pre-existing email. If you don’t select an email there, it will send the contents of the custom email that appears below the selector.

Hi Josh (funny saying my own name),

1) What do you mean by a dead link? Can’t you see the screenshots? I can!

2) Yes, that’s what I did but no email is ever sent. I could supply you with the login details so you can have a look. Let me know.

Hi Josh,

The links are working now. Can you let me know which email you are selecting there?

I’m processing these steps:

  1. http://cl.ly/image/2s1H170H0B15
  2. http://cl.ly/image/1m1d1R3x013h
  3. http://cl.ly/image/0O2E1a3l1Q0H

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Joshua,

On step two, which option do you select?

Joshua

I’m selecting this one Josh. http://cl.ly/image/0o1h221m3o3S

Thanks for verifying. After you select the email, do you click the Send Invoice button?

Joshua

March 8, 2015 at 10:57 am

Yes I do hit send, but nothing seems to happen 🙁

Hi Josh,

Can you install an email log plugin to check to see if it logs anything when you hit the send invoice button?

Joshua

March 9, 2015 at 3:56 pm

Installed the plugin. No emails are being sent.

If I set this status to cancelled and set email notice to yes it sends an email (http://cl.ly/image/0W0W3l2R3c31)

When I select this email template and set the send invoice I get nothing (http://cl.ly/image/0P1V3O2P0k2q)

Hi Josh,

This is likely because you are using the attendee approved function. I imagine if the attendee status was switched to approved, the email would be sent.

Joshua

March 10, 2015 at 1:33 am

Yes that’s right. But if an attendee doesn’t get approved he or she must be notified to and that’s not the case at this time.

I know it’s not the case at this time, but the email will not trigger if the registration isn’t approved. You can un-approve the registration after the message is sent.

Ok thanks Josh. Finally it works.. from a usability stand point not really the best way but it works.

Do you think that this will be improved in the future EE3 updates?

Dean

Hi Joshua,

It’s possible. I’ll add it to the feature request list but please note that as we shift focus to EE4, new features for EE3 will dwindle.

It’s a shame that I was advised to go for EE3 just last year and seeing EE4 features getting update a lot now. Are there costs involved with upgrading from EE3 to EE4? And how is the transition or migration. Does this go smoothly or will this be difficult?

Please advise.

Hey,

Yeah we are at a point where EE3 is good for some users, EE4 is good for others. Our intention is of course to make EE4 suitable for everyone.

As an EE3 licence holder you have a copy of EE4 already in your account page, addons are available were the licence permits, but other addons are at an additional cost. The full EE4 price breakdown can be found here: https://eventespresso.com/pricing/?ee_ver=ee4

Migration wise, it’s as simple as disabling EE3, installing and activating EE4 and following the on screen prompts.

ALWAYS back up prior to migration! Nothing should go wrong, but better safe than sorry.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for letting me know this. I will check it out.
