Hi, I’ll apologise in advance – I think I’m going to be in here a lot today! I thought I’d be able to get this up and running fast but I’ve been through most of the documentation and am still at sea… We have lots of classes – it’s a music school. I don’t know how best to display all the classes. For example: We have, amongst others, at different times: I don’t know what pages to create or what custom template to use, Calendar / Event Table / Recurring Dropdown. Do you have any advice? Thanks |
Hi Clare, Can I ask what would be your ideal ‘registration flow’? If you let us know how you would like them to be displayed we can advise on the best way to achieve it (or as close as we can) |

Thanks Tony, Ideally I would have listed classes with the Recurring Events Dropdown menu but if I can’t use that, then the calendar might be an option. I was thinking of creating a page for each class – e.g. Musical Babies – and then listing all the classes so that people can register for multiple classes. As there are 4 Musical Babies classes per week until June that would make a list of 72 classes which is a long list and not very practical. Alternatively I could create a separate page for ‘Musical Babies – Tuesday’, ‘Musical Babies – Wednesday’ etc. and thus keep the list shorter. I’m still a bit stuck with using the shortcodes. Do I create a page and then insert the event shortcode and also the shortcode for the display e.g.[EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW]? I really appreciate your help. Thanks, |

Does the Calendar work with MER? Thanks |
The calendar will list all your events if you want. You can limit which events are displayed with shortcode parameters or category specific shortcodes. |

Thanks Garth. |
Hi Rachel, Apologies in my delay getting back to you.
Is the reason for not using the Recurring dropdown due to lack of MER support or another issue? With 72 events grouped in this way I’m afraid all ‘list’ formats will be rather long, the calendar is likely the best option to display these.
The [EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW] shortcode will pull in all the events and display them, you do not need another shortcode to use it, unless of course you want multiple outputs. *Note The Custom Template Add-on must be active in order to use the above shortcode. |

Hi Tony, Yes, the reason not to use the Recurring dropdown is due to lack of MER support. I was trying to use the Calendar yesterday and add the work-around Add To Cart shortcode in the description and activate tooltips but for some reason it wasn’t showing – I have another thread somewhere in here about that. In the meantime I’m just going to try to finish the site and go live today with an ‘online bookings coming shortly’ message and then come back to the Calendar. Thanks, |
Hi Rachel, As there have been a few requests for the Recurring Dropdown Template to include MER links I have added them into the template. There isn’t much that should go wrong MER links (the usually either work correctly or not at all) but we would still run these through testing to ensure there are no issues so currently we would say this version is beta, solely because we have not had a chance to break it yet 🙂 This is currently how it would appear: http://d.pr/i/YaTP If you would like to try this version and see if this suits your needs better I’d be happy to email you the files, just send an email to support@eventespresso.com with a reference to this thread. |
