How answers display for Checkboxes in Custom Questions on emails

I have a couple of custom questions where they are checkboxes, however when someone selects them, the registration email just shows a number as the answer which isn’t very clear as to what it means.
Especially when there are multiple checkboxes to choose from for the question.

Any advise on how to manage what displays in the email?

Hi,

May I ask is the selected Question Type for those “Checkboxes” or is it “Pricing” (added by the Price Modifier add-on available from a third party)? If the latter, that appears to be a bug with the Price modifier add-on where it passes the price modifier value instead of the answer to the question.

I am using the price modifier add on, but it’s not passing the price as the numbers showing are not the cost.

Right, but that’s a different thing.

I took a look at the Price modifier add-on (we don’t develop or support it, so I had to find a copy) and it does things quite a bit differently than EE core does with those questions/answer values.

For example, here’s how a price modifier question answer value (the ANS_value field) is stored in the esp_answer table of the database:
a:2:{i:0;d:1;i:1;d:2;}
Then, it adds some new custom database tables to store the option descriptions. Those tables aren’t used by anything from Event Espresso 4 core.
You’ll need to contact Aparna for support on this issue. The reason is because getting those answers to output to the email shortcodes may require the Price Modifier add-on to add some new shortcodes to the email message templates, specifically for displaying answers from its custom tables.

Ok, I will contact them.
One thought I had on how to resolve it though, would be to display a list of all the items they purchase like it shows in the backend of the website for the registration. It has a table with the ‘Registration Items’
EVENT NAME | TYPE | DATES | AMOUNT
(this list shows all the extra items purchased)

Is there a way to display this same table in the EMails?

There really isn’t a way to display that same table in the emails. Those are the line items for the registration, and the emails don’t have shortcodes to output each line item. The invoice and receipt templates do have shortcodes to display line items, so those could be displayed within the invoice & receipt.
