I am concerned because there is a high percentage of failed registrations. We have 154 registrations and 34 incomplete. From 2/6 through today. They say “There is no attached contact for this registration. The transaction either failed due to an error or was abandoned.” That seems too high, there must be a tech issue people are encountering. How can I track down the problem? My tests are successful.

Hi Vauna,

A ‘failed’ registration will be created if a user selects a ticket and clicks register, but then doesn’t supply any information and either navigates away from the site or closes the browser window.

I ran a test registration (stopping at payment) on your site and did not run into any issue, have you had any reports of problems with registration?

Ok, I will just keep an eye on it. I have only had a few complaints and I was able to solve those problems.

Hi Vauna,

Updating to the current version of Event Espresso will also help if you use PayPal standard as the payment method. This is because there was some work done to make EE handle things better if people do not return from PayPal after payment.

I am getting very worried about these continuing failed registrations. There were 38 failed just yesterday! I upgraded to the latest version of EE last week as you suggested but I don’t see any change. We now have 81 incomplete/failed out of 234. That just seems too many and I’m worried we are losing potential guests.

Hi Vauna,

An Incomplete registration is created as soon as you select a ticket and click ‘Register now’, that registration will have a ‘Failed’ transaction.

You can test this by opening up your Incomplete registrations then in another tab open up an event, selecting a ticket and clicking register.

Now switch back to your transactions tab and refresh. You will see a new entry.

Now the next step, if the user fills in the information on the registration form and clicks ‘Proceed to payment options’ the registration becomes ‘Pending Payment’ and the Transaction switches to Abandoned (still in session but until the checkout is finished it will be considered this way)

Then when the payment goes through either of the 2 Payment methods you have, the Registration will switch to Approved and the Transaction ‘Complete’.

So the only time a REG/TXN should be Incomplete/Failed is if a user selects a ticket, views the questions, then navigates away from the page or possibly if there are problems in submitting the attendee data.

I ran registrations in Chrome and Firefox and on each occasion was able to get through to select a Payment Method. If you looks within the registrations list you’ll find registrations under my name.

Unless you have had reports that users are unable to register, or you have been unable to register yourself then it is likely this is simply people clicking to register and then navigating away.

If you look within these registrations is there any data that would have been captured from the attendee at all?

No, there is no attendee data.

Hi Vauna,

I asked @Dean to run a registration and confirm he could reach the payment page to confirm your registration pages are working.

If you look within your registrations and can find both my registrations under my name, and Deans under ‘TEST’, then your registrations are working as expected. They should be ‘Pending Payment/Incomplete’ (REG/TXN)
