Hello all, we need to hide/remove the dates/times section from the registration confirmation email please – what’s the best way to do that?

Ideally we’d only hide it for specific events, but removing it completely would also work!

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Zoe,

So the way I would do this for specific events would be to create a custom message template with the DateTime output removed… then select the template(s) on the event(s) you want to hide the dates from.

To do that go to:

Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates.

(Note that IF you wanted to remove the date from ALL events, you can edit the default template here. The default template is used by all events by default (hence the name :)) so changes to that apply to all events using the ‘global’ templates)

Find the template in the list, In this case, I think you need the ‘Registration Approved’ message template, that’s the ‘confirmation’ email and click on the icon for that template to crate a custom version.

(Custom templates are just templates that would differ from your ‘global/default’ templates and allow you to select them on specific events)

That’ll create a custom template and take you to edit that template. The first thing I always recommend is giving the template a meaningful name and description and hitting save. I’ll use “Registration Approved – No Date” just so it’s easily identified.

For the Reg Approved message it’s going to show the ‘Primary Registrant’ context first (see more info on message contexts HERE) and in general people don’t use that template. Switch to the Registrant context (the link for message contexts explains how to do that).

Dealing specifically with the section that would output the datetime details here, look for the [TICKET_LIST] section, you’ll see it calls the[DATETIME_LIST] shortcode. Remove the whole section that calls DATETIME_LIST, like so:

Save your template again.

Now edit the event you don’t want to include dates in.

In the notifications section, look for the ‘Registration Approved’ message.

Select the custom template you just created in the dropdown and save.

Add a test registration to trigger the emails and confirm:

1. You got the custom message template on your email.
2. It didn’t include date details, if somehow it does, Ill need to see it to know what you need to edit.
