Hi Dean,
I popped your gist from https://gist.github.com/Apina/f11b5ce2db10f7b3bb93
into my registration page template and it has been working without a hiccup.
I would also like to hide the “Submit” button as suggested by Jorgen in his post https://eventespresso.com/topic/how-to-display-member-is-already-registered-to-event/
I have tried adding his line of code but have got either the location or syntax wrong.
Can you tell me if it should work and where/how I need to add it to your gist?
