Hi guys,

This is a long one, but I want to be thorough in what we are trying to do.
First general background. We run conferences for travel bloggers. We run 2 – 3 events per year. We use a multisite with dedicated sites / pages for every event. In addition to our main conference events. We use EE to manage attendee signups for tours that happen during the event. We call them “Pre-Bex trips” and “FAM-TRIPS”.

Pre-covid, we used a different EE instance on each separate event page to manage our registrations. During Covid we had to postpone or cancel 4 separate events which means hundreds of registration transfers.

This made us rethink how we are organizing our events with EE. We made the decision to move registration for all events to our home website instead of having them separated by event events multisite.

For example. TBEX North America 2021, TBEX Europe 2022 and TBEX Asia 2022 will now all be located on http://www.tbexcon.com. This will allow us to use the EE Attendee Mover Add on to transfer attendees easily between events.

This is where we started encountering problems with the Default and Custom Message Templates. We read in the support forums that you can customize your Message Templates for each event.

We are not able to do this. We cannot find any setting, check box etc that allows you to select a Message Template for a particular event. So the mail merge fields cross over.

We are also having a hard time just figuring out the Message Template system in general. We cannot figure out how to customize one of the Message Templates for TBEX North America Pre-BEX Tours” to send a confirmation that someone has signed up for a tour. These tours are free. There is no payment.

We have read everything we can find in the forums. We just cannot figure this out.

So we need help with 1:

changing the fields in the Message Template system to read “TBEX North America 2021” when they sign up for that event, and them “TBEX Europe 2022” when they sign up for that event and “TBEX Asia 2022” when they sign up for that event. The date fields also need to change per event.

2. Creating a separate Message Template that will be sent when attendees sign up for a tour with the name of the event “TBEX North America 2021 Pre-BEX Tour”, or “TBEX Europe 2022”, or “TBEX Asia 2022”, etc.
