Hello,

It is very difficult to find information when going through google translate and that in addition we are not scheduler.

My problem is on the QR code that works great with the application. But for some important events we must use a laser barcode scanner and be connected to the site.

When we use the latter the QR code is systematically refused to the scan sample record: 1 ° 6FEC00E4E986BC45FCQQ7FQBQ8QE117C

Can we not change this QR code so that it simply indicates the registration numbers as on the barcodes (eg 823-11-1-6fec) which would be much simpler for us?

Waiting for your help please (do not forget I am not a programmer but I know how to change a shortcode that I do not find) 🙁

cordially

Stéphane

Hi there,

When we use the latter the QR code is systematically refused to the scan sample record: 1 ° 6FEC00E4E986BC45FCQQ7FQBQ8QE117C

When we see characters such as ° in the output when a barcode is scanned it is usually because the barcode scanner is either in a different mode than the QR was generated in and needs to be switched over, or the scanner simply doesn’t support that mode.

Does your barcode scanner allow you to switch modes? Which scanner are you using?

Can we not change this QR code so that it simply indicates the registration numbers as on the barcodes (eg 823-11-1-6fec) which would be much simpler for us?

You can’t change the output of the QR code to use that value, although you can include both the QR and Barcode on the ticket so you have the option for either, would that help?

Thanks Loic for the answer.
The laser scanner I am going to be sincere, it is new but worries, I do not know how to configure it to read these barcodes (so not possible) and moreover I think I will remove the barcodes of the tickets which are very Badly read with the application for privileged QR code.
I will also get closer to the barcode reader;)

Actually, another member of our support team (@Josh) pointed out another way you could do this.

You can create a custom QR code within the ticket and have it use the shortcode ‘Reg Code’ value that the barcodes use if you prefer.

We have some details here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/custom-qr-codes-for-tickets/

To edit the ticket go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates -> Ticket.

Edit that template and switch to Text mode – http://take.ms/LvAZ4

In text mode find the [QRCODE_*] shortcode and replace it with this:

<img src="http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=qr&chs=200x200&chl=[RECIPIENT_REGISTRATION_CODE]&chld=H|0" alt="QR Code" />

It will look something like this – http://take.ms/erP1c

Save the template and take a look at a ticket, you’ll now be using a new custom QR code from Google Chart Tools that contains the short code you requested.

Thank you very much for your help Loic, I had seen this code in fact but I did not know how to customize it. Everything works fine with this QR code 🙂
