I am rebuilding a client website on a new URL. She has run EE4 for several years and has an extensive database of current and former events, attendees, etc. I have installed Duplicator to move the EE4 DB files over to the new site. However, I’ve never run Duplicator with a portion of a website, only as a complete migration. Can anyone provide guidance for how to move just the EE4 DB over to the new site using Duplicator or a similar migration tool?
The short answer here is you can’t move just EE4 from Site A to Site B, you’ll need to clone the original site and then remove the data you don’t need on the ‘new’ site.
To explain a little as to why this needs to be done, some of EE’s data such as events, attendees etc are custom post types with the WP Posts table which we then use create relationships to in custom tables using the row ID as the foreign key. The row ID is autoincrementing so if you pull the rows from Site A and then tried to import them into Site B they’ll have different ID’s which would then need to be updated through EE4’s tables, there’s a lot of those types of relationships and a custom export/import functions would be needed (which we don’t currently have available) to run through those updates mapping the ID’s.
