I noticed that the file to download from GitHub is actually event_espresso-en.po instead of event_espresso-en_US.po. Should we change the file name to match en_US as entered in the wp-config.php file?
I noticed that in the WordPress General Settings it has a Site Language selection which it says replaces the WPLANG in the wp-config.php file. I have tried selecting English (United States) from the dropdown but it doesn’t stay there when I save it.

Event Espresso checks for event_espresso-*locale*.mo (the .mo file is built from the .po file when you save) so in your example the filename should be event_espresso-en_US.po
Where are you currently placing those files?

I have put the .mo and .po files into this directory:
wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages
The Site Language isn’t set to anything but has English (United States) as an option but it doesn’t stay there when selected – I think this is possibly because I updated the wp-config.php to have en_US but in the language folder for the theme I’m using it doesn’t exist?
Can you send me the .mo and .po files your are currently using to support[at]eventespresso.com please?
I’d like to see if I can see a reason for these not loading.
