Hi EE Team,

I have been working on my new site for while now and I am extensively using Event Espresso and the Calendar Add-on. I am also using ACF to add custom fields to event edit pages. Some of these custom fields are then displayed in my single event custom template. So far, so good. I am planning going live end of March this year.

Should I be concerned with the release of WordPress 5.0 (Gutenberg editor) scheduled somewhere next April from an Event Espresso point of view ? It’s not clear for me how this will impact custom post types and, by extension, custom fields, knowing that Event Espresso is base (fortunately) on CPT.

What would be your recommendations for preparing for this major WordPress release ? I was surprised not finding any topics on this forum yet.

Thanks in advance for your clarifications.

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I can advise that you make sure you have all of the Event Espresso plugins up to date before you update to WordPress 5.0. This way whatever needs to be done within Event Espresso core to ensure compatibility with WordPress 5.0, your site will have what’s needed for WP 5.0.
