We got the following message from Google Search Console:
“Many events are now being hosted in virtual format, without a venue or location. In order to enable event organizers to provide more context to potential attendees, Google has added a new, optional property to Event items: organizer.
This new property is especially important for online events, where there isn’t any venue information. When using this property, we recommend specifying at minimum the organizer.name and organizer.url subproperties.”
This can be done with a small amount of PHP code in a functions plugin, along with custom fields. This other topic has more information you can follow:
Each event organizer’s situation may vary, for example some organizers may want to provide a person’s name as the organizer, others may want to provide an organization’s name.
Another example, some may want to specify different organizers for different events on their site. Some may only need to specify the same organizer for every event. If the latter, then you may not need to use custom fields and the PHP code can be adapted to pass the same information for all events.
