Our website is running slow and according to godaddy and we are at our limit of physical resources of 512mb. If we increase it to 1024mb, will that resolve our issue or are we better off to switch to another web hosting company like siteground.com?

I checked with godaddy and we are NOT on the wordpress managed plan.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi Eric, could you tell us more about the slow performance that your are seeing? For example, is it slow site-wide in the WP dashboard and on the front-end (public area of site)?

Generally, Event Espresso will work best for managed WP hosting solutions (e.g. WP Engine, Flywheel, Pagely, etc). The problem with the Godaddy plan (managed WP hosting) for this is that they force caching so while the site loads quickly, your registrants/attendees will run into sporadic issues when trying to complete registration checkout.

It is slow on the back and front. I tried to download the registrations from a past event and got a 404 error. I switched the account to its own hosting because I installed an SSL. We are launching some new classes next week and don’t want to run into any issues.

Hi, if its sluggish overall site-wide, then I would first try temporarily deactivating any plugins that are not mission-critical (e.g. social sharing plugin). If that does not help with the speed, then I would consider using a WP managed hosting solution.

I do have a question about this comment:

I tried to download the registrations from a past event and got a 404 error.

Exporting registrations should not cause a 404 error (not found).

Have you recently installed any new plugins? If so, could you temporarily deactivate them and then browse to WP-admin –> Settings –> Permalinks.

From here, try to download the registrations again. If it works, then another plugin on your site is causing the issue.

You could restore a few plugins and a time and then re-test. That should help you pinpoint the source of the conflict.

I receive the 404 error when I click on “registrations csv report” for an event. I was able to download the .csv file for the other events so its not a universal error.

Hi, is there anything that stands out about this event as compared to other events?
