Hi, I have been looking around the support site and have found a few articles on specific parts of GDPR but I am looking for evidence of Event Espresso’s general approach to it before it comes into play in May. Do you have any documentation or will there be any specific updates before that date? Obviously I am getting pressure from my clients so any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Tim.

Hi Tim,

I’m afraid Event Espresso doesn’t currently have a general approach to GDPR. May I ask is there something that Event Espresso does now that needs to stop or have an option to stop doing in order to be GDPR compliant?

Hi Josh, thanks for getting back to me. The only part that I have a concern over is how EE handles mail. My EE install is behind a SSL on that domain but I am interested to know what happens when a user fills in their details/pays by PayPal Express and then mail gets sent to them.

Thanks Josh.

You have the option to deactivate emails if that’s a concern. Event Espresso takes the information submitted from the reg form, records it to your site’s database, and then sends the email via the wp_mail() function after the registration is finalized (and in the case of PayPal Express, that happens after the payment is completed).
